Matkustimme Pargasta bussilla Prevezan kaupungin kautta Lefkadalle yhdessä Suomi frendin kanssa. Saimme Lefkadalle matkaseuraksi myös kaksi EVS kämppistäni Xylokastrosta. Kämppikseni sai järjestettyä meille Nidristä ihanan huoneistohotellin nimeltä Alcyon. Siellä oli todella ystävällinen palvelu, saimme esimerkiksi mehua ja keksejä, kun saavuimme. Olimme Lefkadalla neljä yötä, mutta vietimme tuossa hotellissa vain yhden yön, sillä teimme varauksen niin myöhään toisen majoitusvarauksen peruttua. Hotellin työntekijä oli todella pahoillaan, kun ei voinut tarjota meille huonetta pidemmäksi aikaa. Ehdimme silti nauttimaan hyvää aamiaista omalla terassilla sekä pelaamaan palloa uima-altaalla.
We travelled by bus from Parga to Preveza and then to Lefkada with my Finnish friend. Also two of my EVS flatmates from Xylokastro joined us in Lefkada. My flatmate organized a wonderful apartment hotel for us called Alcyon in Nidri. There was very friendly service, we got for example juice and cookies when we arrived. We were four nights in Lefkada but we spent only one night in that hotel because we made the reservation so late due to the cancelled reservation to other accommodation. The hotel employee was so sorry when they couldn't offer a room for the second night. We had still time to enjoy good breakfast on our own terrace and to play ball in a swimming pool.

Vuokrasimme auton ja kiersimme sillä koko saaren. Ensimmäisenä suuntasimme vesiputouksille, jossa oli ainakin yksi pitkä mutta hitaasti virtaava putous. Toinen kämppiksistäni uskaltautui uimaan ja me muut vilvoittelimme jalkoja viileässä vedessä. Löysimme Sivotasta mukavan kahvilan, jossa virkistäydyimme kylmällä kahvilla, pirtelöllä ja vohveleilla. Muistan vieläkin, miten kuuma Lefkadalla oli, ilma oli todella hiostava, joten taukoja tarvittiin välillä. Hyödynsimme seuraavana aamuna rannalla yöpymisen jälkeen myös Sivotan yhtä ravintolaa, jossa sai käydä suihkussa aamiaisen hinnalla ja ladata puhelinta, kyllä tuntui luksukselta!
We rented a car and drove around the entire island. First we headed to waterfalls where was at least one long but slowly flowing waterfall. One of my flatmates was swimming there and the rest of us were cooling our feet in chilly water. We found a nice cafe in Sivota where we went to refresh ourselves with cold coffee, milkshake and waffles. I remember still how hot it was in Lefkada. The weather was very sweaty so we needed breaks sometimes. Next morning we used also one restaurant in Sivota for having shower and our phones charged with the price of our breakfast. That felt so luxurious after having spent a night on a beach!

Vietimme toisen yön Agio Filin rannalla, joka oli todella hankalan ja kivisen ajomatkan päässä. Auto täytyi jättää kauas rannasta, jonka jälkeen kävelimme makuupussien kanssa jonkin matkaa alas kivistä polkua. Rannalta oli lähdössä juuri ihmisiä pois veneellä, joten koko ranta oli vain meidän käytössämme. Siellä saimme kokea hieman kauhun hetkiä, kun yksi joukostamme päätti kiivetä korkealle kalliolle ja hypätä mereen. Rannalla oli paljon makeaa janoavia ampiaisia, joita saimme nauttimaan Radler baarin eli olutpullon antimista :D Tällä pikkukivirannalla nukutti hyvin lehtimajan alla. Muistan, kuinka kaverini säikähti kalliolta tulevaa kirkasta valoa. Olimme varmoja joidenkin vakoilevan meitä taskulampuilla. Lopulta lampuksi taisi sittenkin osoittautua kuu. Tälläkin reissulla sain kokea taas sen, miltä tuntuu herätä rannalta ensimmäisten uimareiden saapuvan sinne. Tunne oli jokseenkin nolo, mutta nämä uimarit vain toivottivat meille hyvää huomenta. Rento meininki siis :)
We spent second night on Agio Fili beach. We had to drive very hard and stony road to get there. After parking our car far away we walked a stony path with sleeping bags down to the beach. People were just leaving from the beach by boat so the whole beach was ours. We experienced some scary moments there when one of us decided to climb a high cliff and jump to the sea. There were lot of thirsty bees who we got into Radler bar (beer bottle) to enjoy it's sweet taste :D We slept well on this pebble beach under a leaf shelter. I remember when my friend was frightened by the bright light coming from the rocks. We were sure that somebody is spying us with a flashlight. Finally the light turned out to be moon. On this trip I experienced again how it feels to wake up from the beach when the first swimmers are coming there. The feeling was pretty much embarrassed but these swimmers just wished us good morning. So it was relaxed atmosphere :)

Ajoimme Lefkadalla saaren eteläiseen kärkeen, jossa kävimme luostarissa ja pienellä majakalla. Maisemat olivat ihan loistavat! Postauksen ensimmäinen kuva on sieltä. Nautimme uimisesta ja auringosta myös suositulla ja isolla Porto Katsiki rannalla. Tämä ranta on minulle varmasti yksi mieleenpainuvimmista rannoista Kreikassa jyrkän kallioseinämän vuoksi. Täysin en voinut kuitenkaan rentoutua siellä, sillä pieniä kiviä tippui usein päälle ja pelkäsin, milloin tulee iso lohkare suoraan päähän. Katsoimme rannalla myös todella upean auringonlaskun ennen kuin lähdimme etsimään seuraavaa leirintää yöksi.
Viimeiset yöt Lefkadalla olivat hauskimpia. Löysimme pimeällä erittäin epämääräisen leirintäalueen, jonne pystytimme teltan vain osittain. Emme voineet laittaa päälliskangasta teltan päälle, kun telttakoukkuja ei löytynyt mistään. Hotellilta oli soitettu meille, olisimmeko unohtaneet jonkun työkalupussin huoneeseen. Mitään sellaista emme muistaneet tapahtuvan. Vasta huojuvassa teltassa minulle välähti mieleen keskellä yötä, että ne työkalut ovat varmasti kadonneet telttaakoukkumme! :D
In Lefkada we drove to the southern point where we visited a monastery and a small lighthouse. The views were so great! The first picture of this blog post is from that place. We enjoyed also swimming and sun on a popular and big Porto Katsiki beach. This beach is definitely one of the most memorable beaches for me in Greece because of its steep rock wall. I still couldn't relax totally there because small stones were dropping often to our back. I was scared about when a big part of the rock will fall straightly to our heads. We watched also very gorgeous sunset before searching for a camping for the night.
Our last nights in Lefkada were the funniest. In the darkness we found so strange camping site where we set up the tent partly. We couldn't put the outer fabric on the tent because we didn't find the tent hooks anywhere. They had called us from the hotel and asked if we had forgotten some tool bag to our room. We didn't remember anything like that happened. Only in the shaky tent in the middle of the night I got it to my mind, that those tools are certainly our disappeared tent hooks! :D

Viimeisenä päivänä oltiin taas jännän äärellä, kun kämppikseni hyppäsi liitovarjohypyn vuorilta. Liitovarjoilu yhdessä ammattilaisen kanssa näytti kyllä niin hienolta, että odotan itsekin kokevani sen joskus! Kävimme vielä alla näkyvällä Kavalikefta rannalla, josta suuntasimme kohti viimeistä yöpaikkaamme toisessa EVS asunnossa Lefkadan kaupungissa. Koko saari oli ihana ja reissumme todella onnistunut pienistä kommelluksista huolimatta :)
On the last day we had excitement again when my flatmate jumped a paragliding jump from the hills. Paragliding with a professional looked so nice that I am waiting also to experience that some day! We went also to Kavalikefta beach which is shown below. From there we headed to our last night's accomodation in other EVS house in Lefkada town. The whole island was lovely and our trip was really successful despite some small mishaps :)
